Irresistible Fafda Recipe

Fafda is a popular crispy snack from the state of Gujarat that is deeply satisfying and incredibly delicious. It is traditionally enjoyed as breakfast when paired with sweet jilebis which together make for a scrumptious sweet-sour combo.

Also known by the name of vanva, this snack can be conveniently stored for up to one week after being prepared. Here is the recipe to make this addictive snack:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of gram flour
  • Salt (as required, mixed with water)
  • Oil (as required for frying)
  • Black salt and pepper powder (as required)

Preparation:

  1. Mix the gram flour with water to make a tight dough and keep it aside.
  2. Now, break the dough into small pieces and soften it by pounding it with a grinding stone. Roll the dough into small balls.
  3. Dust these balls with some maida flour and flatten each one of them by rolling them out into long, thin strips (approximately three inches long and one inch wide).
  4. Deep fry the strips in hot oil until they turn a golden brown color.
  5. Sprinkle black salt and pepper powder over the fried fafdas and serve as a recipe.

Enjoy the crispy goodness of fafda with a piping hot cup of tea or coffee. Bon Appétit!
