Actress and wellness enthusiast Gwyneth Paltrow recently shared her culinary secret for a "super-healthy" paleo-friendly breakfast that she prepares for her husband, Brad. The dish is known as shakshuka, a North African and Middle Eastern recipe featuring eggs poached in a savory tomato and spice-laden sauce. Paltrow's recipe incorporates healthy ingredients like onions, garlic, kale, and San Marzano tomatoes, making it a nutritious way to start the day.


  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 can San Marzano tomatoes, crushed
  • 1 cup baby kale
  • 6 eggs
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Feta cheese, crumbled (optional)
  • Parsley, chopped for garnish


  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and cook until soft, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add garlic, cumin, and paprika and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  3. Add crushed tomatoes, kale, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes until thickened.
  4. Using a spoon, create 6 wells in the tomato sauce. Crack an egg into each well and sprinkle with feta cheese (optional).
  5. Cover the skillet and cook over low heat for 10-15 minutes or until the eggs are set.
  6. Sprinkle with parsley and serve hot with crusty bread or pita bread.

Note: You can customize this recipe based on your personal preferences and dietary needs. For a vegan version, you can swap eggs with tofu or chickpeas. You can also add other vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms for extra nutrition.
