Maharashtrian Poha Recipe

Maharashtrian Poha is a popular breakfast dish that is both nutritious and flavorful. It is made from flattened rice, seasoned with onions, green chillies, and aromatic spices, and is perfect to start your day with. Here is an easy recipe to try:

Ingredients

  • 1 cup poha (flattened rice)
  • A handful of curry leaves
  • 1 medium-sized potato, diced
  • 2 tablespoons of oil
  • 1/4 cup peanuts
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 green chilli, chopped
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander leaves, chopped (for garnish)
  • Lemon wedges (for serving)

Directions

  1. Rinse the poha under running water until soft. Drain completely and set aside.
  2. Heat the oil in a pan and fry the peanuts until golden brown. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add mustard seeds, curry leaves, and chopped green chillies in oil. Saute until the mustard seeds crackle.
  4. Add the finely chopped onion and cook until translucent.
  5. Toss in the diced potatoes and cook until tender.
  6. Add turmeric powder and mix well.
  7. Stir in the rinsed poha and salt. Mix well.
  8. Add the fried peanuts and mix.
  9. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with lemon wedges.
