Pyaz ka Poha Recipe with Nutritional Enhancements

  • 1 cup flattened rice (poha)
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 pinch of asafoetida
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1 chopped tomato
  • 1 green chilli, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon farsan
  • 1 teaspoon Jeeravan Masala


  1. Wash the flattened rice in water 2-3 times and drain out the water.
  2. Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and asafoetida.
  3. Add chopped onions, green chilli, and sauté until golden brown.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes and turmeric powder. Cook until the tomatoes become soft.
  5. Now, add the washed flattened rice and mix well.
  6. Add salt to taste and farsan. Mix gently.
  7. Cook for 2-3 minutes on medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  8. Sprinkle Jeeravan Masala on top and mix well.
  9. Cover and cook for another minute.
  10. Switch off the flame and let the Poha rest for 2 minutes.
  11. Enjoy your delicious and healthy Pyaz ka Poha with the added benefits of farsan and Jeeravan Masala!
